Strata measurements on faces equipped with conventional and powered supports
Roof conditions with rigid props, Becorit C30 friction props, Dowty Standard props, Dowty Roofmaster supports and Gullick Seaman 4-legged supports were assessed by measuring density of support on face, roof to floor convergence, lateral movement of roof and face over floor, change in roof inclination and change in roof strain; visual observations were also made of roof breaks, spalling of roof material and manner of breaking down in waste.
