Reconstructing covered timber bridge
Bunker Hill bridge in Baltimore County, Md, built to replace similar bridge destroyed by fire, was designed for H 10-44 live load with 2 auxiliary trusses spaced 15 ft apart as major structural components; through-truss span is 107 ft long, divided into 12 equal panels; roof is carried by timber A-frames spaced 4 ft 5 1/2 in. on centers; stringers, plank floor, and wheel guards were pressure treated with fire-retardant preservative; bridge construction and structural analysis described.
