Brunel's truss spans of chepstow railway bridge reconstructed
110-yr old twin single-track 300 ft truss spans over River Wye were replaced with deck type trusses of prefabricated welded units joined with high strength bolts; each new span has single box-section top chord common to 2 web systems and bottom chords; width was restricted to 12 ft so that each span, assembled below 3 100-ft approach spans, could be launched forward between cylinders of piers and slung from traveling cradles under 300 ft spans; fabrication of steelwork. (Jan, 678, p 63 + 65-66).
