To provide connection between Caracas and Maracaibo, Venezuela, 5 1/2 mi long bridge carrying 4-lane motor-way across lake of Maracaibo was constructed; bridge incorporates many interesting structural features and was built mainly from prefabricated, prestressed concrete components; description of 3 different construction techniques employed for spans of 74, 120 and 153 ft, spans of 214 and 279 ft, and for spans of 525 and 775 ft; design data given.
