Dynamic tests on bridge over Glatt at Opfikon
Fatigue and static tests were carried out on modern 40 m long bridge of prestressed concrete which had to be torn down; repetitive loadings for fatigue were applied with mechanical oscillator which forced structure to vibrate in or near its natural frequency; during 6.6 million loading cycles deformation at midspan was gradually increased from 11.4 mm at beginning to 43.2 mm or approximately 1/500 of span length; results described in detail.
