Study of settlements at number of bridge approaches on maidenhead by-pass
Investigations carried out at 4 bridge sites on highway bypass in England; settlement observations obtained for 1 1/3 yr suggest little further movement is likely to occur; investigations show that it is possible to construct approach embankments to bridges that will not exhibit appreciable differential settlement when good quality fill material is placed, in accordance with existing specification, on stable subsoil; details of soil conditions and fill materials; construction and experimental procedures; test results for dry density determinations, settlement measurements, etc, discussed.
