Experimental studies of pneumatic and hydraulic breakwaters
Experimental studies conducted on 2 similar models of pneumatic and hydraulic breakwaters, having length ratio of 4.5:1; test results of pneumatic system indicated that horsepower requirements for given percentage of attenuation depended only on wavelength, submergence of manifold, and depth of water; power requirements in hydraulic system varied with wave steepness as well as wavelength and were somewhat less than hydraulic for average values of wave steepness, but maximum attenuation achieved was less.
