Laboratory study of rubble foundations for vertical breakwaters
Laboratory tests were conducted to determine stability characteristics of pell-mell placed rubble of sensibly uniform shape and size used as foundation or as toe protection for vertical superstructure of composite breakwater; data are presented for design of such breakwater foundations; study is part of general program on harbor problems on Great Lakes of Canada and is preliminary effort to provide rational basis for design of rubble sections to withstand erosive action of waves.
