Simple technique for recording load-strain curves for concrete beams loaded in flexure
Method is described for automatically recording load vs strain using commercial X-Y plotter; typical curves are given showing results obtained with pavement quality concrete and with lean concrete; modulus of elasticity of lean concrete was derived from tangent to load strain curve at origin and was found to be less than that obtained by resonance tests; reasonable correlation was found between elastic modulus and strains at which micro-cracking was assumed to begin.
