Experimental study of strand in prestressed concrete beams under static and repeated loading
Tests on prestressed concrete beams stressed with pretensioned 7-wire strands of 1/2 in. diam are described; performance of strand in these beams is compared with that of plain and deformed wires in similar beams as determined in earlier investigation; it is concluded that under static loading there is no substantial difference in behavior between strand of 1/2 in. diam and plain 0.2 in. diam wire, and that under repeated loading fatigue resistance is adequate and comparable with that of deformed wire.
