Influence of stirrups and compression reinforcements on behavior of compression zone in reinforced concrete members
Study was made of reinforcement effect in reinforced concrete members under short-time bending loads up to failure; in particular, reinforcement effect was studied on compressive strain in extreme fiber, on distance of internal compressive force from external fiber under compression, and on ratio between average stress in compression zone and cube strength; compared with unreinforced members, stirrups increase flexural capacity of reinforced member by 5-15% and up to 50% in heaviest stirrup reinforcement studied.
