Concert Hall at Frankfurt-on-Main, has 285-ft diam concrete dome roof that is only 5 in. thick in most parts; edges thicken to 10 to 24 in.; dome rests on second floor at 6 points; to resist shell thrust at support points, diagonal reinforced concrete ties were built in second floor; 82-ft high shell roof was cast in place on wood formwork supported on steel scaffolding.
