Attenuation of sound in lined ducts with and without air flow
Study in lined ducting with air flow at velocities of from 2000 to 5000 fpm, and under no-flow conditions; to simulate broad-band sound spectrum of air-conditioning equipment, random-noise generator was used as noise source coupled to 15 in. speaker through amplifier; attenuation characteristics with air flow; comparison of measured plane wave attenuation with various equations.
