R-f excitation of supersonic flow is considered possible means to study effects of ionization at moderate temperatures; heat of recombination counteracts liquefaction of flow during expansion and permits use of vaporized liquid (mercury) as testing medium; flow can therefore be generated without pumps by evaporation-condensation cycle; description of small tunnel built upon these considerations.
