Surface damage caused by polyvinyl chloride sliding on steel
Survey of different types of debris and surface damage encountered during friction experiments; most prominent feature is formation of rolls which lie at right angles to direction of motion; there appears to be critical temperature below which rolls do not form; connection between rolls and Schallamach abrasion ridges is suggested; formation of other types of debris discussed. (In English with German abstract).
