Flexural and compressive strength of concrete as affected by properties of coarse aggregates
Effects of properties of 13 different coarse aggregates; differences up to 40% in flexural strength and 29% in compressive strength were obtained for same mix proportions; shape, surface texture, and modulus of elasticity of aggregates were main causes of variation in concrete strength; elastic modulus was most important in affecting flexural strength; surface texture was most important in influencing compressive strength.
