Installation of drilled-in-caisson foundation for high conveyor bridge on Hudson River pier in New York City; caissons were filled with 1 1/2 in. minimum size aggregate and rich grout was injected through it, converting whole mass to sturdy concrete; no shrinkage was observed; special Colcrete mixer used to secure stable grout; extensive tests with Colcrete method are described.
