Similarities between prestressed concrete suspension bridge and conventional self anchored suspension bridge; description of first bridge of type discussed built in vicinity of Ghent, Belgium; it proved economical. although its center span is only 185 ft long; it was prestressed by raising columns with respect to piers, thus pushing up cables and elongating them; second bridge under construction in same area.
