Design and construction of Pelham Bridge, Lincoln
Intricate design had to comply with requirements of Royal Fine Arts Commission and with given conditions in old city area; curved bridge is 1470 ft long, has width of 68 ft consisting of two 24 ft roadways separated by 4 ft central reservation strip and 8 ft footpath on each side cantilevered off main structure; use of continuous all welded girders with composite concrete deck, having construction depth of only 3 ft 4 in. in center.
