Plastic collapse loads for circular-arc bow girders
Study of uniform steel girders, curved in plan to circular arc, rigidly supported at each end, and loaded vertically; torsion in bow girder; three modes of plastic collapse which can occur with load distributed uniformly over whole girder; detailed equations are derived; curves given from which collapse loads may easily be obtained for bow girders subtending certain angles; experiments to test theory of plastic collapse.
