Methods are presented for computing backwater caused by bridges; derivation of methods was based on model tests conducted by Colorado State Univ for Bureau of Public Roads; checking validity of computational methods presented by comparison with prototype measurements of drop in water surface across bridge approach embankments, recorded by US Geol Survey.
