Characteristics of fifteen coating-grade asphalts
Survey shows that asphalts, all similar in normally specified characteristics, varied widely in component and chemical analysis, and in durability as measured in accelerated weathering machines; it was found that more durable and less durable asphalts could be identified with certain ranges of flash point, specific gravity, percent carbon plus hydrogen, percent sulphur, percent asphaltenes, and percent resins.
