New research concerned physical and mechanical properties of Roumanian rock salt
Underground study in salt mine indicate that strength of rock salt is influenced by stress intensity in pillars and by time factor; at stresses of over 60 to 65 kg/sq cm in pillars, breaking strength for all forms of stresses decreases considerably; for duration stresses up to 60 to 65 kg/sq cm strength of salt in pillars decreases by some 20 to 25%.
