Laboratory research on design of dikes for river regulation
Relative effects of dike crest elevation and crest profile, and effects of changes in sediment load on dike performance were investigated; laboratory stream having characteristics of alluvial stream was developed; flume 230 ft long, at least 20 ft wide, and 2. 5 ft deep was provided for model stream; alignment of flume permits development of typical problem reach and includes two bends with relatively long, straight reach of stream between them.
