Evaluation of irrigation efficiency requires delineation of necessary and beneficial water uses, uniform evaluation procedures, and acceptable standards for comparative purposes; necessary and beneficial uses of water for irrigation are defined, along with practical and economical methods for evaluating irrigation efficiency; examples are presented to illustrate probable accuracy of various measurements used to evaluate irrigation efficiency; alternative methods for evaluating components affecting irrigation efficiency are presented.
