Distribution of crane forces in mill buildings
Operation of overhead cranes in mill buildings may impose severe dynamic loads on structure, particularly on single bent structures where transverse (lateral) forces from travel of heavily loaded crane trolleys may cause undesirable sway of bents in immediate vicinity of crane; bracing provided between individual bents tends to distribute these forces to adjacent bays with effectiveness that depends on relation stiffness of bents and of bracing transmitting these forces; method is presented which offers solution of force distribution among various bents by applying calculus of finite differences.
