Tandem interference effects for noncavitating and supercavitating hydrofoils
Results of experimental studies are compared with theory, and good agreement is shown; experimental studies were extended to include fully submerged, ventilated foils of finite span; both forced and naturally ventilated foils were employed in various configurations; surface wave generated by ventilated foil and total interference effect of forward foil on force and cavity characteristics of aft foil; for forced-ventilated foils, considerable change due to interference effects was observed in cavity pressure of aft foil.
