Description of double-curvature thin arch dam and associated spillway on site with geological problems in Costa Rica; upstream cofferdam and two parallel tunnels each about 100 m long, 6.5 m diam; site is in narrow canyon with weak rock above certain elevation; construction of chute spillway, sketches of dam in plan and section, determination of stresses in dam, surge chamber in rock, and two turbine-generator sets are described; each generator has rated capacity of 40 Mva, 13.8 kv, 0.8 pf, 60 cps.
