A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Proposal is described for coping with traffic in urban areas by construction of dual highways of width not exceeding 15 ft with reduced pavement thickness for passenger cars not exceeding 30 cwt in weight, and with height and width not exceeding 6 ft; roads could start and finish well clear of municipal boundaries, and gradients and curves could be more severe than on conventional highways; these roads could be built on poor ground, and many existing routes could be found which comply with mentioned requirements.
