Potential uses of sonic and ultrasonic devices in highway construction
Research work at Ohio State University was initiated to evaluate use of high-frequency vibrations in various industrial and scientific fields, and feasibility of possible applications of sonic and ultrasonic mechanical vibrational energy in highway engineering and construction; evaluation of applications of sonic energy from 60 cps to 25 Mc; investigation was conducted with sonic transducer and vibration-excitation systems used for compaction of highway materials, especially soils; survey of literature on developments in field of sonic and ultrasonic research and applications of vibratory energy.
