Determination of unconfined aquifer characteristics
Methods proposed to solve nonlinear differential equation for unsteady radial flow toward well in unconfined aquifer are divided into three categories; comparison is made as to origin, characteristic assumption, and applicability in solving for hydraulic conductivity and specific yield of unconfined aquifer; methods of Category I linearize nonlinear differential equation for drawdown ratios of approximately 5% or less; adjustment of field data or confined aquifer type curve is characteristic of methods described in Category II for drawdown ratios of 25%, or less; reduction in flow thickness in aquifer is directly taken into account by method in Category III for all drawdown ratios of less than 75%.
