Location of hydraulic jump in open rectangular channels
Analysis shows that position sensitivity of hydraulic jump (defined as displacement of toe of jump along channel per unit change in elevation of downstream free surface or tailwater) depends on Froude number, rate of degradation of hydraulic energy due to friction and channel bed slope; nondimensional relationships are presented in graphical form and are compared with test results; measures for improving stability of hydraulic jump are discussed.
