Generalized profiles of gradually varied flow
Pattern of similarity is established by means of analytical and dimensional analyses in nondimensional forms of water-surface profiles of gradually varied flow on mild and steep slopes in wide channels; within each class, profiles are found to form ordered series ranked according to Froude numbers of corresponding uniform flows; sets of profiles are presented in four charts which yield approximate dimensions of profiles on mild and steep slopes; charts can be used in preliminary investigations of gradually varied flow in wide channels.
