Instability of continuous medium and resistance to compression
Differential equations with limit conditions for general instability of elastic (or viscoelastic) body under initial stresses; C.E.Pearson's energy criterion is adopted as basis of analysis; equations are written in coordinates of points at initial state before deformation change; it was found that critical loads for internal instability must be of order of elastic moduli; they diminish markedly with diminution of transverse moduli of orthotropic material.
