Hopper dredge McFarland
Twin screw hopper dredge was built for U S Army Corps of Engineers by Bethlehem Steel Corp, Sparrows Point Yard, and will be used in maintaining, realigning and deepening harbors and channels; dredged material can be discharged by bottom dumping, direct pipe line discharge to disposal areas, or sidecasting; length oa 300 ft, beam molded 72 ft, depth to upper deck 33 ft, draft loaded 22 ft, displacement 9760 tons, hopper capacity 3150 cu yd; four V-12 Alco diesel engines provide 6000 shp for propulsion; plan.
