Interior drainage design for hurricane protection projects
Purpose of this paper is to illustrate interior drainage problems of hurricane protection projects, methods of analysis, and solutions obtained, by reference to studies made for Port Arthur and vicinity project in Texas; pumped drainage systems of varying degrees of effectiveness have been provided for low-lying leveed areas; on basis of hydrograph, seepage and wave overtopping varying levels of protection for different types of urban development were designed; use of electronic computers permits investigation of many alternatives and makes feasible performance of many detailed studies described; pump stations and gravity outlet capacities were selected during design.
