Effects of boundary conditions on buckling of orthotropic cylindrical shells under surface pressure
Approximate method is presented for determining critical external pressure and its dependence on boundary conditions; method uses simplifying assumptions that cylinder's buckled form must satisfy only two (out of four) boundary conditions on each edge, namely, disappearance of radial and axial displacements or axial normal force; it is also shown that restraint of longitudinal displacement increases critical load by 50%.
