Finite-element method is presented for static stress analysis of laminated orthotropic shells of revolution under arbitrary loads; shell is approximated by system of short conical frusta, and stiffness for each element is derived by means of variational principles; various problems were solved and comparison of these results with known analytical solutions shows extremely good correlation.
