Foundation of Mactaquac rockfill dam
Site conditions and construction methods used are discussed together with solutions of foundation problems; bedrock at dam site was covered with previous layer of stratified silt, sand and gravel; underwater dredging amounted to 1,650,000 cu yd; extensive drilling on 100 ft grid; artesian layer drawdown over 50 ft by deep well system; permanent pressure relief system free-draining to tail-water will be provided.
