Fake stonework beautifies dam
Errwood Dam is 120 ft high, 1000 ft long and contains about 600,000 cu yd of fill; top 50 ft of rockfill embankment's upstream face will be riprapped with 11,000 precast, colored concrete blocks with one exposed face textured like natural stone; blocks are cast in 20 different sizes, ranging from 4×3 ft, and 18 in. thick, to 2×2 ft 3 in., and 7 in. thick; fiberflass insert fits in steel molds and creates irregular exposed face; preparation of slope with 8 in. thick blanket of fine crushed stone; method of placing and keying blocks.
