A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
New approach of designing is recommended for construction of major earth structures; this procedure will utilize more completely and effectively knowledge now available in soils engineering; it will alleviate problem of planning for placement of large masses of earth whose properties are not fully known, on soil whose condition and quality can at best be educated guess; owner, designer and contractor can all benefit from adpatation to earth dams of continuing design approach now recognized under term value engineering.
