Buckling of cylindrical shells under axial compression
Series of tests on 22 right circular metal cylinders loaded in axial compression; experimental results are related to theoretical predictions of postbuckling suggested in earlier paper using geometrical model which includes elastic-plastic bending in series of line hinges separating plane triangulated segments; modifications to model are suggested to provide for plastic axial strains at nodal points between triangles and thus promote better correlation between theory and experiment.
