Buckling and post-buckling behavior of isotropic cylinders under external pressure; analytical method is developed for investigation of buckling and post-buckling behavior of thin-walled circular cylinders with and without initial deflections; method yields rough approximations and is limited to buckling and post-buckling patterns with one row of bulges; calculated results are in good qualitative agreement with experiments; it was found that thin-walled cylinders are very sensitive to initial deflections; thus, imperfections of order of wall thickness reduce critical load by as much as 25%.
