Construction management concentrates so heavily on increasing production by using better machinery and longer working days that worker morale and motivation are often neglected; behavioral psychologists believe that there are two basic behavior patterns; these patterns are influenced by human need for job safety, social acceptance, and self esteem; degree to which individual's needs are satisfied is significant indicator of his degree of motivation; significant barrier to effective worker motivation is strong union tradition in construction, whereas nonunionization of engineers contributes toward their creativity and capacity for responsibility.
