Corrosion of steel reinforcement in cracked concrete; two models and experimental results are described to study action of macrocouples in concrete, and extent of macrocouples (concentrational, stress-gradient and differentialaeration) and current and potential distribution on reinforcement surface; determining factor in corrosion at low moisture contents of concrete is its ohmic resistance; corrosion rate increases with increasing frequency of moistening; anodic control usually exists only in narrow cracks (up to 0.1 to 0.2 mm wide); at equal corrosion rate, depth of damage increases with decreasing reinforcement diameter.
