Mechanics of bond and slip of deformed reinforcing bars in concrete
Experiments to study factors influencing bond of bars with ribs or deformations oriented essentially normal to axis of reinforcing bar; bond tests on given length of embedded bar were conducted to evaluate influence of rib height and rib spacing; eccentric bond test was developed to simulate bonding of bar in beam; effects of transverse reinforcement, embedment length, and bar diameter on type of bar were evaluated; analytical study was made of stress produced by bonding of concrete and reinforcing bar, with special emphasis on effects of presence of transverse cracks.
