Direct design method for prestressed concrete slabs
Method developed is based on load-balance analysis for obtaining minimum and/or allowable maximum compressive stresses at extreme fibers of control section; it is governed by computation of balanced load and amount and eccentricity of applied prestressing force depending on load and boundary conditions of slabs; when dead load is significantly smaller than computed balanced load, concrete stresses should be investigated for possible overstress at initial stages of member under prestressing and dead load; direct design equations for slabs under uniformly distributed loads are presented and their derivations, based on load-balancing analysis, are given.
