Precast rigid frame buildings -- Tests of scarf connections
Performance of scarf connections was studied as part of investigation of precast rigid frames and their components; strength and behavior was investigated by means of flexural beams made in two pieces and connected by scarf connections; tapered concrete blocks were used to evaluate joint cushioning materials and their effects on short-time loss of bolt prestress; it was found that nonprestressed connections with asbestos cloth cushions are satisfactory in most cases.
