Influence of mortar and block properties on shrinkage cracking of masonry walls
Mechanism of cracking due to drying shrinkage of restrained concrete masonry walls was investigated: behavior was observed for totally restrained, partially restrained, and unrestrained walls during drying at 50% relative humidity from various initial conditions of higher humidity; observations included total wall shortening, movement across vertical joints, block strain, and cracking.
