Utilisation of flyash and blastfurnace slag in cement mortar and concrete
Studies on fly ash and blastfurnace slag regarding their respective uses as pozzolana and as partial replacement of cement; it was found that approximately 15 to 20% cement can be saved by incorporation of fly ash in mortar or concrete which will result in added benefits of better plasticity and workability, freedom from segregation, and reduction in heat of hydration; similarly granulated blastfurnace slag can replace cement in mortar mixes by about 30% or more without any adverse effect on strength or other properties.
